HAPPY new year or not

We are about to find out.

Yaay! It's February. Everyone has gone past Happy New Year to saying Happy New Month and here I am still trying to mentally cross over to the “new year”. C’mon, let’s not pretend that we did not just sleep and wake up and they said ‘happy new year’. Shocker— I did not sleep. There was too much going on that night and the blasting sounds of fireworks finished the job.

I know. Our ever-serious, diligent folks have entered the new year since September last year or even earlier, who cares. Flashing their new goals at our faces, the vision in 8K, and execution already in progress. I see y'all.

And there is Us, who is taking the slow and steady a little seriously. Ain’t nothing wrong in that if it gets the job done anyway. So a little pump-up line for my fellows, yeah... It may look like we are walking in their shadows, but it is them taking the heat off us.

On a serious note, I can imagine my mom cutting in, “Do they have two heads?” I do. One is still in 2024, processing. I have the other telling me it's a new year, you need to hurry up. Relax, I’m not about to miss my ‘no be Gadus be this’ moment.

I am comfortably taking my time, soaking in all the moments; taking clues, staring into oblivion, catching my stars and looking left behind. But it is time to give the year what he craves so bad: recognition. Even though, I am not one to hold a new year in high esteem, shockingly there is something about this year. I knew this in time. I did not scavenge for ‘new year ideas’. I did not ask for clarity. I did not mutter “No Pressure”. So unbothered, so carefree. What do these mean? I am ready for the new year? Wrong! Is the new year ready for me?!

I'm in charge; I am doing the throwing. I am doing the testing; I am serving the a lot. Guess who is rating the performance, it is still I. Hopefully, the New Year is prepared to take all that I will be throwing at him (apologies, but it has to be an He.) Otherwise it is He who will not be Happy. Too much for a Happy New Year.
